About me

I am a postdoctoral associate at CMU working with Prof. Swarun Kumar, Prof. Peter Steenkiste, and Prof. Virginia Smith. I received my PhD in Computer Science from Rutgers University under the supervision of Prof. Marco Gruteser. During my PhD, I was awarded the Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship from the CS Department at Rutgers University, the best paper award from ACM VLCS 2016. I had the chance to intern several times at Bell Labs, General Motors Research and Comcast Labs. I received my MS degree in Wireless Communications from Nile University in 2011 and my B.Sc. in Computer and Systems Engineering from Alexandria University in 2009.

I am broadly interested in designing and developing mobile, wireless and capacitive sensing systems, positioning systems, autonomous driving systems, networking protocols, and applied machine Learning algorithms. My recent projects includes:

  • April 2018: Our work on primary user-aware optimal discovery routing for Cognitive Radio Networks was accepted for publication at IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing 2018 (PDF).
  • November 2017: Our work on visible light sensing was accepted for publication at IEEE INFOCOM 2018 (PDF).
  • April 2017: Our work on over-the-air TV detection using mobile devices was accepted for publication at IEEE ICCCN 2017 (PDF).
  • October 2016: We just received the best paper award for our work, "Visible Light based Activity Sensing using Ceiling Photosensors”, at the ACM Workshop on Visible Light Communication Systems (VLCS) held with Mobicom 2016.(PDF).
  • October 2016: I attended ACM Mobicom 2016 and presented in VLCS workshop our activity sensing paper ----- (PDF).
  • July 2016: Our work on activity sensing using ceilings photosensors was accepted for publication in ACM VLCS at Mobicom 2016 ----- (PDF).
  • May 2016: I joined Bell Labs as a Research Intern.
