Research Projects Using OPNET

4G Mobile Network Architectures & Protocols

WINLAB has been studying 2.5G systems for more than six years. An article on GPRS published in the IEEE Communications Magazine in October 1997 still continues to attract a lot of attention throughout the wireless communications community. The basis of this research is a simulation created within the OPNET. In addition to traditional simulation/analysis of 3G systems, latest research is focusing more on 3G/WLAN interworking as well as 4G systems.

Courses Using OPNET

16:332:544: Communication Networks II: This course is intended to provide an in-depth and practical understanding of modern computer networks that constitute the Internet. The scope includes network architecture, component technologies (both hardware and protocols) and specific systems. Emphasis is on network protocols and related software implementations. OPNET is used for lab assignments and course projects.
