How do we use Cadence software in research:

For the design and synthesys of the cognitive radios in the WiSER project, and similarly in the MUSE project, WINLAB makes use of both the Digital Integrated Circuit and the Verification software bundles.

The Cadence Packaging and Board software bundle is used in a variety of projects for schematic capture and PC board layout and design. WINLAB has invested considerable time and effort in defining internal standards for its library components and then defining the components themselves. The system was designed to address the many pitfalls of library component creation and maintenance, such as multiple uncontrolled footprints of identical parts, revision tracking, footprint verification, component design consistancy, and a reliable bill of materials with vendors and vendor part numbers. These tools and libraries are used in various research projects including GLIDER project (sensor/power consumption measurement infrastructure),ORBIT project (Node Identification and the Chasis Manager cards), a power measurement system integrated into the ORBIT grid, as well as a number of other projects in both the ECE and the Computer Science departments at Rutgers.
