Dr. James G. Evans is a Visiting Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rutgers, and Consultant at WINLAB. Before coming to Rutgers and WINLAB in 1996, he spent 32 years at AT&T Bell Laboratories. During his career at Bell Laboratories he was the technical manager of teams working in RF measurement techniques, nonlinear circuit characterization, digital satellite communication, cordless telephone design, and ultra low cost RF communications devices. He holds over a dozen patents and has authored many papers. Dr. Evans earned EE and MS degrees from Cornell University and PEE and PhD degrees from New York University.
Dr. Evans is currently involved in research on INFOSTATIONS, and architecture in which isolated, short range base stations are used to deliver very high bit-rates to low cost terminals. His specialties are communication systems design and RF physical layer research.
