A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF WINLAB

WINLAB maintains a broad "system" focus in order to identify important merging wireless opportunities, and supports a wide range of research activities as a result. Currently, WINLAB research is focused on new radio and network architectures that will greatly expand the scope and scale of wireless information, reduce its cost, and create valuable new services. Key elements of these architectures are super-high-speed and increasingly "smart" radios that will exploit a variety of transmission technologies and access protocols; low-cost, integrated wireless sensors that will provide a new level of information about us and the world around us; and decentralized protocols that will allow these ad hoc and disparate elements to organize themselves into efficient, secure  networks.
