Christopher Rose's Students (partial list)
- Ruochen
Song was working on my latest craziness -- communications
theory
in biology. Ruochen is one of those rare birds -- a
crackerjack analyst with common sense. He's derived a result
(by himself) that would have taken me 6 months (IF I could have done it
at all). Two conference papers have resulted from his "MS paper" and a journal
paper will be submitted soon. I'd have ridden Ruochen like Zorro toward his
Ph.D. but unfortunately, we've lost him to the
Chinese Power Authority (jobs are scarce, so you take them when you get
them) and even more irretrievably,
a happy marriage! Nonetheless, I hope to lure him back some day.
- Dr.
Jasvinder
Singh has finished his seemingly schizophrenic,
but actually crazy-like-a-fox, thesis. It covered a variety of cool
topics, all under the common thread of how we can all get along in a
wireless commons -- and when you need jack-booted spectrum police.
His most
recent work:
covariance feedback for interference avoidance. and
optimum codewords for correlated sensor nodes. He's now a happy
camper at Qualcomm Flarion Technologies in Bridgewater, NJ!
- Dr.
Otilia Popescu: has been busily raising two young
children even
while publishing papers in math journals, the Information
Theory Transactions, Eurasip and conferences (see papers under
IA ).
- Dr. Dimitrie
Popescu: Assoc. Professor, Old Dominion U.
- Dr.
Ana-Lucia
Iacono:
Senior Engineer at Interdigital
- Dr.
John MacLellan : Founder and CTO, Packetstorm Comm. Inc.
- Dr.
Aylin
Yener (M.S.): Professor, Pennsylvania State
University In increasingly ancient history, Aylin
received the prestigious
CAREER Award from
the National Science Foundation in 2003.
- Dr.
Shalinee
Kishore (M.S.): P.C. Rossin Assoc. Professor, Lehigh
University Shalinee
recently received the prestigious Presidential
Early Career Awards for Scientists and Engineers
(
PECASE ). Here's a picture
of Shalinee with the President and other PECASE winners
(front row, 4th person to the left of the President).
Here's a news
article from Lehigh (local

- Neville
Clemens
(M.S.) has finished a thesis on
spectrum warfare ("big shoulders"
etiquettes) for cognitive radios.
His essay on "Liberty,
Trust
and Responsibility" won him an expenses paid trip to the International Students Committee
Symposium
at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland. Neville was by far my most intellectually diverse (a level of craziness to which I've always aspired but have never achieved) student.
